| Painting Light 11/07/2008 - 28/09/2008 | Palazzo Strozzi hosts an exciting exhibition unveiling the hidden techniques of the Impressionists.
How did the Impressionists paint? is the main question of Painting Light in Palazzo Strozzi. How the artists conveyed the quality of light at different times of the day, which conditions inspired them the most, what materials and work methods they used?
Masterpieces by Matisse, Van Gogh, Renoir, Signac and Sisley and some of the most famous canvases of the last century are throughly examined with modern technology such as high-power microscopes, under infra-red and ultra-violet light. An extraordinary way to discover the secret techniques of Impressionist artists.

| | A PIAZZA FOR ALL SEASONS - SANTA CROCE 08/07/2006 - 31/12/2010 | Throughout the year quite a number of recreational activities are hosted in this beautiful piazza, to name a few:
June saw the setting up of the playing field for the Medieval Soccer competition, which incidentally was cancelled due to the animosity existing between the teams!
Leading up to Christmas, the German Christmas Fair, there are many stalls where one can buy typical gifts and enjoy wurstel and sauerkraut, mulled wine or a beer in the carousel pub.
On another occasion, during the winter Santa Croce becomes an open-air ice-skating rink.
