“Lovely hotel in a perfect location”Hotel Colomba Jun 28, 2009 | We stayed at the Colomba for four nights in April, having chosen the hotel based on the good reviews we’d read on this site. We were not disappointed. The hotel is in a perfect position, very close to all the sights that Florence has to offer, and it was an easy walk from the train station, even with suitcases. There is a lift directly up to the hotel (which is not at street level), and as soon as we arrived, Roseanna and her husband Michele made us very welcome. We had the disabled room just around the corner from the breakfast room, and it was spacious and very clean, overlooking the courtyards of adjacent properties- I always find that view typically Italian, and really enjoy looking out over the backs of other houses (being naturally nosey!!).
Breakfast was very good- a cold buffet with lovely fresh rolls and pastries, as well as cold meats, cheeses, cereals yoghurts and fruit. Coffee was freshly made by the cup and was delicious. We requested an early breakfast on the morning we left, and Roseanna was more than happy to oblige. Roseanna also gave us restaurant recommendations for each of the nights we were there, and with one exception, they were all very good. All of them were within a ten minute walk of the hotel, and heading away from town- as a result, they did not seem to be tourist high priced rip offs which to tend to come across near the tourist sights.
If you have time on your visit to Florence, wander through town, across the river and up to San Miniato al Monte- it’s a steep climb, but worth the effort. You’ll go via Piazzale Michelangiolo, where the views across the city are superb, but when you get to the church, it’s as if you’re in the Tuscan countryside- it’s quiet and peaceful, and a lovely rest from the crowds of Florence.
The hotel was an ideal choice in terms of quality and position, and excellent value for money- we would definitely stay again, and would highly recommend it.

“Best part of our vacation!”Hotel Colomba Florence Jul 2, 2009 | | After coming in from Rome Florence and this hotel were perfection! This hotel was twice the size and half the cost of the hotel we came from. It is on the 2nd floor with a tiny sign so make sure someone points it out to you (cab driver), but it had everything: PERFECT location, large room with full bathroom, delicious full breakfast, clean, air conditioning, and a lift. Definitely more of a bed and breakfast, but lots of ameneties: free internet, fridge and safe in room, etc. WILL STAY THERE AGAIN!~!

“They are lovely”Hotel Colomba FLORENCE Jul 6, 2009 | you couldnt ask for nicer, geneorous or more helpful hosts. I injured my ankle, the son was sent out to buy cream and bandages and she wouldnt let me pay a cent. The location is perfect, the views are amazing including il duomo.

The Hotel Colomba was one of the highlights of our trip to Florence.”30/07/2009 | The Hotel Colomba is a real gem...a wonderful experience for me, my husband and our two children (both in their early 20's). We felt at home right away, thanks to proprietors Rosanna and husband Michael and their friendly staff. Any time we needed advice or special service, they were there to help us. Breakfast was excellent (lots of choices...from muesli to hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, prosciutto, cheese, pastries, yogurt, and delicious cappuccino or other coffee made to order). The hotel is centrally located so it's easy to walk to all the main attractions of Florence (the Uffizi, the Accademia, the Duomo and lots more). There are so many great restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. And, it's only a short walk from the train station. Our rooms were large, comfortable and clean, and air-conditioned.

Like staying with good friends”Hotel Colomba Florence 06/08/2009 | Leading my family from the train station to Hotel Colomba, I was starting to feel a bit insecure. Waiting for the questions: "do you really know where we are going?" (yes, the website instructions were accurate) or "why didn't we take a cab?" (didn't need to, the walk was very manageable) or "is it really on this street?" (what we found to be a perfect location.) But, once we got off the elevator and met Rosanna we knew we had made the right choice.
Clean, spacious rooms, and a welcoming relaxed atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay. And the Breakfast was great. Sabina makes the best Cappuccino!

It was like coming home to family every night!”Hotel Colomba florence Aug 16, 2009 | For two single ladies traveling, this hotel was a breath of fresh air! Roseanna and her husband were so sweet to us! Breakfast was great and it was one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in all of my travels! Great location, spacious room and bath, free wifi!! I can't say enough great things about this place!

“A wonderful find in Florence!”Hotel Colomba florence Aug 23, 2009 | We happened on this hotel by chance....our first hotel had a pipe burst, and Rosanna and her husband were kind enough to take us in. The rooms were immaculately clean and comfortable and the location was perfect (just a few blocks from the Duomo), but the real find were our wonderfully generous and kind hosts.
Rosanna and her husband made us feel like welcome guests staying in their home. When we mentioned we might be stopping by in the afternoon to take a quick shower before going out again, they made sure we had EXTRA towels so we'd have fresh ones for later. When our departure time needed to change slightly, they were kind enough to work with us. The rooms are basic, but have absolutely everything you could need or want. All this, and one of the least expensive rates of any hotel we stayed in during our trip!! Everything, from the comfortable beds to the wonderful breakfast to the extraordinary kindess shown by our hosts, will ensure that the next time we're in Florence, we'll stay at the Hotel Colomba!
